Shat Gambuj Mosque

The shat Gambuj Mosque is one of the heritages of Bangladesh. It became a UNESCO World Heritages site in 1985.It is situated in Bagerhat district in Bangladesh.It is not very far from the dense mangrove forest of the Sundorbans. In the 15^th century , a saint named Ulugh Khan jahan built. It  is a multi-domed mosque. It is a unique mosque in Bangladesh. Architecturally, it is very beautiful. It has 77 domes on the roof. The vast prayer  hall has 11 arched doorways on the east and 7 each on the north and south for light ventilation .The interior west wall is beautifully decorated. Besides  being used as a prayer hall, khan jahan ali used the mosque as his court also. Today, it is one of the greatest tourist attractions and one of the best architectural beauties of Bangladesh.

Pir Khan Jahan Alis Mazar and the Shat Gambuz Mosque are the famous historical sites in Bangladesh.These sites bear testimony to thepreching  of Islam during a view to the region of Mughal Dynasty in India.Khan jahan ali was sent to the then Bengol to preach islam.With preaching islam the settled in Bagerhat and did many deeds of public welfare.

The Mazar of Khan Jahan Ali stands on a high land at Bagerhat.The tomb was built with cut out stones.One cannot say accurately where from these stones were supplied.Some people opine that Pir Khan Jahan Ali brought these stones from Chittagong by river.On the tomb there was inscriptions in Arabic.A big fair is hald besides the Mazar every year on the night of the full moon in the month of Chaitra. Many visitors come here.

Khan Jahan Ali dug some new tanks and excavated some old ones to remove the problem of drinking water of the people of ABagerhat.The salty water could not be drunk by the people of that locality.There is a big lake like tank in fornt of the Mazar.It is one of the big tanks excavated by him.There are some crocodiles in it.When the crocodiles in it.When the crocodiles come people throw cocks,hens or goats at them and they swallow the them.

The Shat Gambuje Mosque is a large building.Actually,Khan Jahan Ali not only excavated roads for development communacition of the people of the locality.it is a very big tank in Shat Gambuje Mosque.Really it is very excilient place.So every body visit this historical place and many information in Shat Gambuje Mosque.
